If you are planning to lose weight, why would you consider or not consider the Diet Direct diet plan as a rather good plan to go through? What are its benefits? What are its disadvantages?

What is a Diet Direct Diet plan

The Diet direct diet plan is based on the philosophy of meal replacement that the more meals you replace, the more weight you lose. This plan is for the specific purpose of fat reduction and ultimately weight loss. It uses the company’s own Wonder Slim meal replacement brand and protein supplements which are not only perfectly portioned but also delectable.

Its advantages:

Easy-to-follow eating plan. What you will eat for your daily three meals and three snacks are already predetermined. You just choose from what are in the package.

You do not have to trouble yourself counting the calories. Planned day’s meals are composed of regular meals and snacks with the required number of calories from a carefully balanced combination of protein, carbohydrates and fats. Overall intake of calories is from 1000 – 1200 calories; 126g – 129g of protein; 112g – to 137g of carbohydrates; and, 15g – 28g of fat, for women. For men, the figures are slightly higher: calories, 1500g – 1700g; protein, 148g – 165g; carbs, 177g – 202g; and fats, 21g – 39g.

Hassle-free meal preparation. All meals are packed and you need little or no effort in preparing them. You can follow the plan while traveling or working. Because what your meals and snacks for the day are already prepared, you can be on the diet even while you are at work or even when traveling. Even if you care about kosher foods you can still undergo the plan.

Proven to be effective. According to a randomized controlled trial published in the Nutrition Journal, 9:11, 2010′ the meal replacement diet evaluated was an effective strategy for producing robust initial weight loss and for achieving improvements in a number of health-related parameters such as body fat percentage and lean muscle mass, blood pressure and pulse, and satiety, to name a few.

Although the meals evaluated were that of Medifast 5 & 1 Plan, it is assumed that Diet Direct’s own WonderSlim Diet Plan meals are more or less comparable to that of Medifast.

However, these are its disadvantages:

Presence of aspartame and other artificial sweeteners. According to researchers, aspartame can trigger or worsen in you brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, chronic fatigue syndrome, Parkinson’s disease, mental retardation, lymphoma and many others. It can also cause headaches and migraines, dizziness, seizures, fatigue, irritability, tachycardia, insomnia, vision problems and many more.

In addition, your body produces insulin at the first taste of sweet. But since aspartame has no carbohydrate, this results in hunger pangs and you crave for sweets.

You are neither learning about healthy eating nor changing you bad eating habits because you are just substituting your usual fast food with another kind of fast food.

It’s your choice

Embarking on a Wonder Slim Diet plan by Diet Direct or any other meal replacement diet plan, though proven effective, should be done with the advice of your doctor, in order to avoid any of the possible side effects of eating some of the components of the diet.
